Renewed Faith

Tonight's command supper has brought back many meaningful bittersweet memories of the old hall, n the block's waterfall & 3 and a half pine tress... All tt during the screening of the tribute videos, deeply touching the many hearts (including mine), some even tearfully...

I admit, I haven't been contributing much to the hall, what more to the block... But being the slow learner me, studies had to be a priority since i had to work doubly hard just to maintain an average cap... a painful lesson i learnt after getting burnt out n screwing up my cap in year 1... n to think i could juggle student council & 4 cca's in jc, sigh...

At the same time, I was also already aware of the dwindling in hall & block spirit after moving to the new location.. with an unfriendly pgp-like room arrangement (n truly horrendous architecture), ppl naturally got more distant from each other since it was now much easier to hide behind closed doors... even calling ppl down for dinner was already a chore to the block comm, shouting up 7 floors instead of 5... things were not what they used to be... everything was different, from the juniors' nonchalant perspective on hall or block spirit to the trickling numbers of alumnis coming back just to have supper & have a chat with their juniors at mini fong seng... because there is no sense of belonging to the old kr anymore...

Naturally, most of us seniors would feel dejected n discouraged about these changes... whereas I was convinced that my faith, especially for the block was almost gone since I was more involve in hall based activities...

Until tonight...
Maybe it's the realization tt i'm gonna be the laolang next year n time was running out, maybe I was finally feeling overwhelming guilt for being a phantom for so long, or maybe my new perspective of life had changed my views on the rationale of staying in hall... Nevertheless, as i saw every single laolang's genuine enthusiasm and love for the block reflected on their tear-stained faces, as they spend their last precious times together making dnd costumes n command videos... i was glad to know tt as i searched deep in my heart in turn, i was able to find back the true B blocker spirit which i thought i had lost...

So thank you so laolangs, for renewing my faith in our block in time... with one final year to go, it's still not too late to contribute all i have to the block... n be the true blue, dedicated, charismatic block senior we freshmen have all looked up to and inspired by once upon a time...

Just 1 Lil Blog

Oh, I give up... my fingers r itching already... So I shall satisfy my cravings with one short lil entry... I hope, haha...

The Quake
Last week kicked off with a massive 8.5 scale earthquake in Indon.. supposedly felt back home & Spore as well... n wat was I doing on Mon midnight? Blissfully munching away on neighbor's stash of love letters n watching CSI, oblivious to any hint of tremors... bet those ppl from Eusoff were cooking up some story just for 10 secs of fame then

The Avocado
More on glorious food... tasted my first authentic avocado juice at the Alexandra hawker centre...the texture so thick n smooth, and the flavor, absolutely divine... way better than science's diluted, artifically flavoured rendition (with coffee, i bet)...damn, never knew tt until now, n i was already nuts abt the latter...

The new-found love :D

The Maths Confession
Last week was also when the campus was shocked, or should i say amused, by the confessions of a love struck guy to a maths student... via, a powerpoint slide?? How, errr, romantic... I shouldn't further embarass them, I'll just add the link to the audio...haha...
Tip for guys: Only do this if u have absolutely no fear for rejections...
Even when ur wearing a suit and carrying a bouquet of red roses...

Verce's "A Powerpoint Confession"

The Cab
Friday... salsa was getting more... confusing... can't remember the previous combis, or their mind boggling names... La Huna, La Whazitsname, La Blablabla... dis bad... dancing also will need to take notes? sigh...
Rushed off to aca supper at Esplanade after lessons... salsa Keith suggested catching a cab there... since he was on the way and 'this time (9pm) easy to catch a cab wan'...
1 free cab whizzed by, ignoring us...
And another...
And another...
15 mins later, the 5th free cab crawled by, again blatantly ignoring 2 frantically waving ppl... hmmmmmmmm...
20 mins later, we ended up calling a cab...n it appeared in the blink of an eye...
The next time... I shall walk like I'm destined to...

The Supper
Supper itself was truly memorable... With 14 of us terrorising the couches & attacking 14 scoops of ice cream at Haagan-Daz... then warbling all kinda songs (yes, even xmas carols on a hot april) at the back of the bus... BOTH ways... at least I think we weren't tt bad, since no auntie gave us 'The Killer Look'... lol... have to admit, it was only this year tt I start to feel a sense of true belonging to the Aca family... so definitely no regrets for staying another year in Aca... thanks for everything guys :)

Oops, blog's not too lil anymore...
Ok bk to work... sighs...

Work in Progress

Hmm... with exams around the corner, tests every week... I'll be busy shoving my head into books and growing fat munching comfort food (yes, more choc :D)... So entries will be (very) infrequent... In fact, I should keep away from bloggin... since searching for good jpeg's n spouting crap are always a welcomed distraction...

Alrite, shall sign off for the month, hopefully, heh...

Choc Galore

It was a great today.. We finally had our official neighbor outing at Munchie Monkey's.. believe it, it's a huge accomplishment judging frm the fact tt it took us 2 years to fix a decent date tt could accomodate everyone... yeah tt's how busy we semi-phantoms are, haha...

The DnD voucher was put to good use, since we stuffed ourselves full with fried calamari, pastas and of course, the ever sinfully gorgeous choc cakes... Italian CHOC cake n more CHOC brownie... mmmmm, how much more satisfied a gal could get? Screw the calorie watching... serotonin & endorphins tt make u blissfully contented rawwwk! *sighs happily*... Aahh the wonders of chocolate... One bite n the world turns so much rosier :D

Also did a boh liau recording on a Disney song wif (stoopid) Charlie.. in the wee hours of the morning of all times... ahahaha, Felie says my voice's too cute... oops... but yay anyway, hope to squeeze in a few more recordings :o)

Hmm should get bk to studying...disgusting test (on a disgusting module taught by a disgusting lecturer) tom... dun think will be able to sleep tonight... sighz...

The thief

Disclaimer: NC-16 rating. Not for little children and (like Justine suggested) little animals...hehe

Once upon a time, a pretty, demure little neighbor decided to grab sth to cool herself on that hot sunny afternoon. She happily skipped into the pantry and opened the freezer. Oh no, horror of all horrors, her beloved Ben n Jerry's tub was missing! She searched every nook n cranny frantically... not under the rotting pieces of chicken meat, nor the frozen chunks of spilled prata curry... then it dawned on her tt it must have been the notorious thief....the thief who has been stealing everyone's choc bars, snacks n desserts from the fridge since the beginning of sem ...

Enraged to the core (she dug up a friggin' big lump of money for tt barely touched tub), she stomped back to her room, stabbed some nice lil words on a piece of paper, and slammed it back on the fridge:

Satisfied, she marched back to her room to mourn for the loss of her precious Ben...

The not-so-demure little neighbor then formulated a brilliant plan... she waited n waited to catch the culprit... but nope, no sign of the thief...

Until one fine day...

And the thief lived happily ever after, with the rest of her weekly stash of Ben n Jerry's....

THE END

Moral of the story:
When u curse, make sure it's grammatically right.

PS: Everything except the unblemished note is fabricated. Apologies to the neighbor tt may have been offended... My heart goes out to u, n the thief's a blady bastard... But I was still pretty amused by the note...Blame my bitchiness again on the E Lang project's permanent damage on my my emotional n mental stability, heh... peace...

To Kill A Dolphin

  • Target a suitable victim 100-140cm long
  • Bludgeon its vital areas with a 300 pound weapon for maximum effect
  • A stab or two on the body is optional
  • Toss 6-8 feet into the air to break the spine
  • Repeat the process for 10-20 mins to obtain multiple organ rupture
  • Allow the victim to hemorrhage to death
And that, ppl, is how blue nosed dolphins murder their babies... (And you thought Discovery Channel is only for kids, hehe)... yup it's a shocking new discovery of an unnoticed behaviour tt experts guessed have been happening all this while...and nope nobody knows the real cause they behave this brutally either....

Do u know they're also suspected to killed poor innocent porpoises for target practice? Coz those targeted are the same size as baby dolphins... how intriguing, such skillfully trained and violent killers....

and you ppl out there would think that dolphins are soooooo cute n harmless, as well as loving n protective parents...haha farah's so amused at me bitchin' about dolphins, not tt i have anything against them... just immensely fascinated with their unanticipated sadistic nature, hehe.... okok... enuff crapping...

Gonna investigate Sheares' recently opened waffle store... then reward my sleepless nights bitchin' around n pulling my hair out over the E Lang project with the lovely movie Closer....yay!

Counsellor??

Nothing much to write about these days (hence the cut-n-paste mania)...
Other than a screwed up test, n a neverending debate on the differences of 'what' n 'ma' in Singlish....
(huh?? u'll say...)

One interesting point...
Do u know 'what' is more crude than 'ma'?

Ah Beng: "How come you borrow my shirt now got hole one?!!"
Ah Seng: "Borrow that time orredy like dat, whaaaat!"
Ah Beng: "Then why you nebber say first?"
Ah Seng: "You nebber ask, whaaaat!"

So if u substitute 'what' with 'ma'... u realise it's not tt... crude...haha...

Ok 'nuff projects... n to the counsellor part...

The Counsellors...

  • Search for meaning in their life and develop powerful insights
  • Are dedicated to helping others reach their potential
  • Think of themselves as gentle, peaceable and cautious
  • Others may find it difficult to get to know them

  • More about Counsellors
Counsellors have a natural understanding of human relationships and the complexities of life, which they use to help others. They search for meaning in everything and develop complex insights.

Counsellors feel most relaxed and creative when their surroundings are organised. They are deeply private people who only share their insights with trusted friends; however, they will defend their values if challenged.

In situations where they can't use their talents or are unappreciated, Counsellors may withdraw from the people around them or become resentful. Under extreme stress, Counsellors may feel overwhelmed and be driven to organise small parts of their lives such as their kitchen cabinets or their record collection.

Counsellors typically prefer a few close relationships to a wide circle of friends.

    Counsellor Careers
Counsellors are often drawn to jobs where they can help people develop emotionally, intellectually or spiritually and where they can use their imagination.

So not me at all (thus I declare the overly popular quiz overrated, haha)... except for the creative & private bits...haha can't imagine being the agony aunt... or someone's shrink for tt matter... can't even develop one decent insight in a simple essay.... n i don't organize kitchen cabinets!... not tt aunty la :oP
hmm...think i'll just stick to the conventional MBTI :o)

    The Slut

Ahhh yessss... I can finally sit my big fat ass on the my cheap plastic chair n attempt some work (not tt I did much during the weekend anyway, was wasting my time messing aroud with a boh liau game on waiting tables n serving food, aka Diner Dash... dun feel sorry for me, I actually enjoyed tt brainless game, haha)...

A.I. (=Artistic Intelligence = Acappella/Inspire collaboration, wah lau..) was the my last performance for the semester... feels weird ending things early since this time I'll be lazing around while my poor neighbors dance their butts off for this wed's Dance Night... muahahaha

Anyway, A.I. was the night when I embarassed myself to bits being the 'star' of the miniplay... doing wat? Three-timing Ah Ren, the Italiano man and Bryan Adams.... aiyooo... hence the caption of the day (not tt I'm one, thank u v much :oP)... I shall now officially walk around hall with a paperbag over my head...sigh...

    Creative shadings, anyone?

Came back from my long overdue salon appointment with pink hair... well, ok i exaggerated a bit... a couple of pinkish red strips (when it should have been copper red) which took 3+ hours n 20 layers of foil... never knew a simple chunk of colored hair would actually be more tedious than highlights (n they call that creative shadings, hmm)... but oh well, it is toni n guy academy, n the results aren't disasterous, yet... if only i knew earlier tt it costs more than highlighting, i would gotten 5-6 colors slapped on my whole head to make it more worthwhile, haha... but haiya, i'm not complaining... but the color better stay for a few weeks min man...

The trip to the academy is usually interesting... u tend to observe many things when u have hours to kill... The coloring tutor loves strutting around in fancy skirts n spikey dominatrix heels, the students share the same highlight... the last time it was white, this time ash purple... n my stylist still sticks out his tongue like a kid when he works, eeee (tho it's not as bad as before, since his peers kept reminding him, haha).... but his work's not bad la... just a bit toooo meticulous... fella's so worried he can't get hired when he graduates in a few months time.... he lamented about ending up in a $10 haircut booth or the helper of a fat auntie at a dodgy salon, haha...

Oh well, for now I should be satisfied with my half-lian red/brown hair...
maybe I should stick to the conventional highlights next time... yeah...

    The Aftermath

Finally got some decent DnD photos...
Food was not bad (excluding the fluorescent orange sago dessert... wat the heck was tt?!!)...
Venue was bad (suntec convention hall? aiyooo)... but the costumes were as entertaining as ever :oD....

Shockingly, I snagged the best dressed female prize...probably coz I looked convincingly evil... I even scared the shit out the RF's cute little girl, haha... Nothing much of a prize... a munchie monkey's food voucher, but good enuff... it's free food anyway, mmm....

    The Lil girl's Fairytale friends...

Absolutely impressed by the Supersize me table... the buggers were strutting around tempting us with their humongous fries, coke n ronald mcd's gang... brilliant idea, ppl

    Supersize Me...

All in all, the night ended pretty good... although our table were already in shreds by then... sleeves, pants n rafia beards already started ripping off before we even stepped into the hall... they couldn't even be stapled back... some ended up with fat strips of scotch tape on the seams... aiyo, it's the cheapskate cloth i say... so much for the effectivess of double-sided tape, damn...

Anyway, meet the rest of the party...

    The cute 'little' Dwarves...

    Heigh-ho!

    Happy Meals, anyone?

All zombie-like today... spent last night on the costume rush for tonight's DnD... so 5th floor was a total minefield, littered with dwarf shoes, beard & adorable floppy hats, & lotsa cloth of assorted colors.... the whole 30m of them... zhenbin the was prancing around with his face stuck in cardboard mirror, ole was scaring ppl off with her poisoned apple (in her shower basket?) & her terrifying mask... while ophe & cailong, the head 'dwarves' (tho they're obviously taller than most of us, lol), were slave-driving the rest to speed up production... heigh-ho, heigh-ho!

Meanwhile, Snow White & the Evil Queen were the best of friends, hanging out in the quee's lair & bickering on the best way to stick their costumes together (note: stick w/tape, not sew... too leceh lah)... the Evil Queen made a nice high gothic collar to go with her black cape... didn't think she could find a cheap balaclava for her headgear, so she grabbed the next best thing: stockings... voila! worked just as well :oD

Snow White's costume was the hardest to perfect... the (lumpy) puffy sleeves & the (bulky) yellow skirt were the most challenging bits... we concluded tt the resultant product was a cross of the superman cape, the aladdin vest & the tinkerbell skirt, haha... alamak, headache... hope today's further modifications will make it look more, err... snow whitish... nevertheless it was loadsa fun... n farah could finally declare tt she sewed a proper piece, hehehe...

Can't wait for the evening to come... am itching to know how great or horrendous the others would be... like the adams family, shrek, kill bill vs kung fu hustle, or ah peks (slackers!)

    Lazy Weekend

This weekend passed pretty quickly, with me terrorising towns instead of the lecture notes on Sat, oops... haha...

Went cloth hunting first at joo chiat complex (far far in the east) for DnD (prom) costumes... Our table's doing the Snow White theme, so i'm gonna be the kinky queen w/the short skirt, haha... Like wat Farah said (Ms. Snow White herself, ooo), even fairytales gotta adhere to the modern trends, so out goes the archaic boring long skirts, in comes the minis & fish nets! Man, can't wait to see how's it gonna be once they're done :oD

Later when to see the Rachels band perform at Rockfest in town; songs like "smoke on the water" & "the beautiful ones".... Hmm, the 'highlight' of event was a ska band which got the punks insanely happy as they dance-jumped-banged around, even bodysurfed near the stage... phwoar, n i tot it only happens in mat rock concerts bk home, haha....

Salsa lesson on friday itself was getting more confusing... i'm getting all mixed up with the combi names, wat with 'around the world', 'la huna', bla bla... i can only vaguely remember doing lotsa turns... n lotsa dance partners who couldn't even count right, haha... which probably explains y my back was getting more comfortable with the wall with every latin fiesta (free dance) night... u're just too darned embarassed to reveal your gawky moves & glaring mistakes when ur next to the pros flaunting their impeccably flawless, smooth & sexy moves on the dancefloor... daaammnnnn.... maybe i should attempt practising in front of the mirror, behind closed doors :oP ... sigh, so much for even thinking of competitive salsa, haha...

Alrite, should get bk to my hot date with my book... sucky test tomorrow, eee...

    Sunday, March 06, 2005

    Oh Goodie

As usual, i seem to be the last person to keep in touch with the trend... first msn, then friendster, now blogging (yalar, slow la :oP)...

Well, at least i finally understand the usefulness of keeping a diary of boh liau rantings... since many have been saying tt i haven't been keeping them updated enough, haha... all right, here's a glimpse of the boring life of a mugger/workaholic/ siao cha bo... be warned, hehehe

    Sher
